JAKARTA - Russia's attack on a colony of punishment (restrictions) on the Zaporizhia frontline region in Ukraine last night killed 16 people and injured 35 people.
Zaporizhia Governor, Ivan Fedorov, said the prison facilities were destroyed, and private houses nearby were also damaged.
Ukraine's Chief of Staff Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Andriy Yermak, condemned the attack as another "war crime" committed by Russia.
"Rezim (President of Russia Vladimir) Putin, who also issued threats to the United States through several of its funnels, must face economic and military blows that rob him of his capacity to fight," Yermak said on X.
Moscow forces have routinely attacked Zaporizhia, using drones, missiles, and air bombs, since the start of the war that Russia began with a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

Russia unilaterally at the beginning of the war declared its annexation of parts of Zaporizhia and territories within and about three other Ukrainian territories. Kyiv and its Western allies called the move illegal land grabbing.
Fedorov said Russian troops launched eight attacks in Zaporizhia district, which were reportedly using high explosive-powered aerial bombs.
