JAKARTA - Ace's Governor of the National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) Hasan Syadzily said that the purchase of 48 KAAN fighter aircraft from the Turkish government was an effort to safeguard the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia.
"The planes ordered or purchased from friendly countries must be seen from our efforts to maintain the sovereignty of our country," Ace said when met at the Lemhannas Office, Jakarta, Tuesday, which was confiscated by Antara.
He explained that one of President Prabowo Subianto's quick priority programs is to strengthen the main weapon system (alutsista) as part of efforts to maintain state sovereignty while strengthening the national defense system.
Strengthening defense equipment, he added, one of which is done through modernization.
"We know that the President has serious attention to our efforts to strengthen the resilience and defense of our country's sovereignty and ensure that there is not a single inch of Indonesian homeland that can be captured by other countries or other powers," said Ace.
Previously, the Indonesian Ministry of Defense (Kemhan) officially signed a contract to purchase 48 KAAN fighter aircraft from the Turkish government.
The signing of the implementation contract between representatives of the Indonesian and Turkish governments was witnessed by Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin in the 2025 series of international defense exhibitions (IDEF) in Istanbul, Turkey, Saturday, July 26.
"This signing is a follow-up to the Government-to-Government (G2G) agreement that was previously signed on June 11, 2025," said Head of the Infohan Bureau of the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Defense Brigadier General Frega Wenas Inkiriwang in a press release in Jakarta, Monday, July 28.
