JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump hosted British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at his golf resort in western Scotland on Monday.
The two will discuss various things, from the latest bilateral trade deals to the increasingly worsening hunger crisis in Gaza.
Trump, who was delighted after announcing a major trade agreement with the European Union on Sunday, July 27 evening, hopes Starmer will also be happy.
"The British Prime Minister, although not involved in this, would be very happy because, you know, there is a sense of unity that was also created there," Trump said.
"He will be very happy to see what we have done," he added.
Meanwhile, Starmer hopes to negotiate a reduction in US steel and aluminum rates as part of the negotiations.
But Trump ruled out any changes in steel and aluminum import duties by 50% for the European Union, and said trade deals with Britain had been "completed".
British business and trade minister Jonathan Reynolds told the BBC negotiations with Trump offered Britain a good opportunity to present his arguments, but he did not expect an announcement on the matter on Monday.
Trump and Starmer met at Trump's luxury golf resort in Turnberry, on the west coast of Scotland, before then continuing their joint journey to Trump's second-wide plantation in the east, near Aberdeen.
