Minister Of Social Affairs: Social Assistance For People Affected By Layoffs Is Still Adjusted To DTSEN

JAKARTA - Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) emphasized that social assistance (bansos) for people affected by termination of employment (PHK) is still adjusted to the National Socio-Economic Singles Data (DTSEN).

"So, if for example they have layoffs, we'll see if they go down to class or not? We'll see and we'll update it every three months. As long as they are inside DTSEN and are indeed in the decile that is on target, of course they will be divided (social assistance)," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, July 28.

According to him, currently the government is more focused on empowerment programs so that workers affected by layoffs do not go down in class and still get social security that can meet their needs.

"There are many other programs from the government, there are empowerment programs, capital support, training assistance, and so on. These empowerment programs will prevent them from going down to class," said the Minister of Social Affairs.

He emphasized that the provision of social assistance still prioritizes people who enter DTSEN, which is the main guideline of the Ministry of Social Affairs in distributing aid to be more targeted.

"Until now, we have continued to validate and verify the recipients of social assistance, both by caraground check with the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) as well as cooperation with the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), and God willing, we are working with Bank Indonesia to ensure that the recipients of the social assistance are right on target," he said.

Previously, the Minister of Manpower Yassierli stated the need for layoff mitigation by looking at the root of the problem from upstream to downstream. He emphasized that the government has also provided guarantees of job loss.

First, we see this layoff as a work from upstream to downstream. (Mitigation) which is clear now is the JKP (Job Loss Guarantee), which anticipates from the start, the benefits of which we enlarge," said the Minister of Manpower.

In addition, Yassierli also said that the Employment Termination Task Force (Satgas LAYOFFS) is also expected to overcome this problem.

"Secondly, the layoffs Task Force, which we hope will be launched soon. However, part of the layoff task force is now being carried out by the Ministry of Manpower," he said.
