Mayor Of Yogyakarta Discourse On Valit Services To Overcome Illegal Parking

YOGYAKARTA - Yogyakarta Mayor Hasto Wardoyo discussed the implementation of a parking service for parking vehicles as a solution to curb illegal parking at a number of points along the Yogyakarta Philosophy Axis area.

"I am considering several parking points that are not allowed to park, but are still for parking, whether it is possible to be like that kind of valet," said Hasto at Yogyakarta City Hall, Monday, July 28, as reported by ANTARA.

According to Hasto, the valet parking scheme allows officers to direct vehicles to official parking locations that have been determined by the government.

He assessed that this step could be a solution to parking problems in crowded locations that have been difficult to control conventionally.

"Later they will be taken to the recommended parking lot, then we will serve people who want to park there. I will consider that," he said.

In addition to parking services, according to Hasto, the Yogyakarta City Government will also accelerate the implementation of digitalization of parking payments using the QRIS system in Gudeg City.

According to him, of the more than 700 public roadside parking points in this city, only 10 points have started implementing the digital system.

"I will accelerate the parkingini digital application because there are more than 700 parking points, while there are only 10 digital points, so one of the efforts to suppress it so that there is nonuthuk (increasing the tariff is not reasonable)," he said.

Hasto targets that throughout 2025 the parking digitization system can cover 80 percent of all parking points in the city of Yogyakarta.

"If it's 100 percent, I think it's tough, but if it can be 80 percent, it's good, I think," he said.
