PDIP Will Hold Congress In 2025, Megawati's Wait Schedule

JAKARTA - Chairman of the PDI-P (PDIP) DPP Djarot Saiful Hidayat confirmed that his party will hold a congress this year. However, the determination of the implementation time is still waiting for the decision of PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri.

"Yes, just wait. The important thing is 2025. And according to the Articles of Association and Bylaws, the schedule for the congress is determined by the General Chair," said Djarot after attending the 29th anniversary of the Kudatuli incident at the PDIP DPP Head Office, Diponegoro Street No.58, Central Jakarta, Sunday, July 27.

Djarot said the current party management period will end in 2025, so there is still enough time to hold a congress before the year changes.

"August can, September can, October can, right? Because the management is 2020 to 2025," said the former governor of DKI Jakarta.

Regarding the position of Secretary General (Sekjen) of the PDIP, Djarot emphasized that Hasto Kristiyanto is still in office today. Who will occupy this strategic position in the future will be decided in the congress forum.

"Until now it is still as a secretary general and has not been replaced. So we will wait for the results of the congress," he said.

As is known, Hasto Kristiyanto is currently undergoing legal proceedings at the Jakarta Corruption Court (Tipikor). He was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison after being found guilty of being involved in a bribery case for interim replacement (PAW) as a candidate for legislative member.

The Panel of Judges said that Hasto was proven to have provided bribe funds of Rp. 400 million aimed at members of the General Elections Commission (KPU) for the 2017 '2022 period, Wahyu Setiawan. The bribe is related to efforts to pass Harun Masiku as a member of the DPR through the PAW scheme.

In addition to corporal punishment, Hasto was also sentenced to a fine of Rp250 million. If not paid, the fine will be replaced with imprisonment for three months.
