The Illegal Parking Attendant Who Went Viral for Extorting Motorists at the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout Has Finally Been Arrested by Police

Polsek Metro Menteng arrested one thug in the wild jukir mode who carried out parking services against a group of motorcyclists at a rate of Rp. 10 thousand per motorbike.

JAKARTA - The Menteng Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit arrested a thug operating as an illegal parking attendant who extorted parking fees from a group of motorcyclists, charging IDR 10,000 per motorcycle.

The perpetrator, identified as Muhamad Adnan Mutato, was apprehended by police while hiding inside a house in the Papua Mess, Tanah Abang District, Central Jakarta, on the evening of Friday, July 25th.

The perpetrator is the man whose extortion racket went viral on social media.

"The perpetrator, identified by his initials MAM, who went viral, was previously arrested by the Menteng Metro Police for a similar extortion case in 2024," Menteng Metro Police Chief, Commissioner Rezha Rahandi, told VOI on Saturday, July 26, 2025.

The arrest was based on statements from several witnesses, amateur video footage, and CCTV footage from the scene.

"During the interrogation, it was confirmed that the perpetrator in the viral video on social media, on Jalan Thamrin, Menteng, was indeed MAM. MAM has confessed to his actions," he said.

Furthermore, illegal parking attendant Adnan Mutato was taken to the Menteng Metro Police for further questioning.

"The viral extortion incident occurred on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at around 3:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB) on Jalan MH Thamrin (near the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout), Menteng, Central Jakarta," he said.

Previously, the Central Jakarta Transportation Agency claimed that the Central Jakarta Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) had arrested the illegal parking attendant who went viral early Friday morning.

However, it turned out that the parking attendant, Anto Sinaga (36), a Tanjung Priok resident, who was arrested by the Satpol PP, was not the perpetrator who went viral on Instagram.

The Head of the Central Jakarta Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), Tumbur Parluhutan Purba, confirmed that the illegal parking attendant, Anto Sinaga, who was arrested by the Satpol PP, was not the illegal parking attendant who went viral.

The illegal parking attendant who went viral was still being sought by the Satpol PP until he was finally arrested by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Menteng Metro Police.
