JAKARTA - Retired president and vice president of the Republic of Indonesia are scheduled to attend the ceremony to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on August 17, 2025.

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said that invitations to national figures such as the 7th President Joko Widodo, 5th President Megawati Soekarnoputri, and former vice presidents had begun to be submitted informally.

"If the invitation of the presidents who have retired, the vice presidents and vice presidents who have retired, and their families, as usual, God willing, they will be invited," said Prasetyo at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Antara, Friday, July 25.

According to Prasetyo, several figures have expressed their willingness to attend verbally, even though the official confirmation process is still ongoing.
