JAKARTA - Retired president and vice president of the Republic of Indonesia are scheduled to attend the ceremony to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on August 17, 2025.
Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said that invitations to national figures such as the 7th President Joko Widodo, 5th President Megawati Soekarnoputri, and former vice presidents had begun to be submitted informally.
"If the invitation of the presidents who have retired, the vice presidents and vice presidents who have retired, and their families, as usual, God willing, they will be invited," said Prasetyo at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Antara, Friday, July 25.
According to Prasetyo, several figures have expressed their willingness to attend verbally, even though the official confirmation process is still ongoing.
"Usually he-beliau God willing, if there are no obstacles, it will be pleasing to attend," he said.
The government ensures that this year's proclamation commemoration ceremony will still be held at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta. People who receive official invitations can follow directly from within the palace area.
Meanwhile, the general public who are not accommodated in the palace still has the opportunity to witness processions from outside the area.
"The committee is preparing various technical aspects of the event, including the concept of the entire event. The details will be delivered in due course," explained Prasetyo.
Previously, President Prabowo Subianto had launched the official logo of the Indonesian 80th Anniversary at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday (23/7/2025).
