Deputy Speaker Of The DPR, Azis Syamsuddin, Summoned By The Corruption Eradication Commission, Related To Investigator Case Brokers

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has scheduled an examination of the Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Azis Syamsuddin, Friday, May 7.

Originally the DPR leadership would be examined as a witness in the alleged bribery case received by KPK investigator Stepanus Robin Pattuju from the Mayor of Tanjungbalai M Syahrial.

"Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Azis Syamsuddin is being examined as a witness for the SRP suspect (Stepanus Robin Pattuju)," said Acting KPK spokesperson for prosecution Ali Fikri to reporters, Friday, May 7.

In this case, Azis allegedly introduced the Mayor of Tanjungbalai M Syahrial to Stepanus. This introduction led to the practice of bribery with a value of up to IDR 1.3 billion to stop a case of alleged buying and selling of positions that occurred at the Tanjungbalai City Government.

The Golkar Party politician's introduction to Stepanus is thought to have originated from his adjutant who both came from the Bhayangkara Corps.

In addition, the KPK also summoned other witnesses who would be examined as witnesses for Stepanus. They are the neighborhood leader Abdul Rahim Sirait alias Tajam and a civil servant named Waris.

Furthermore, investigators are also scheduled to carry out an examination of the Regional Secretary of the City Government of Tanjungbalai Yusmada and a protocol or civil servant named Darwansyah Merta Wijaya. The two of them were examined as witnesses for the suspect M Syahrial who is the inactive Mayor of Tanjungbalai.

Previously reported, the KPK has determined and detained three people. They are KPK investigators from elements of the Bhayangkara Corps AKP Stepanus Robin Pattuju, Mayor of Tanjungbalai M Syahrial, and lawyer Maskur Husain.

In this case, Stepanus and Maskur were suspected of violating Article 12 letter a or letter b or Article 11 and Article 12B of the Corruption Eradication Law in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) k-1 of the Criminal Code.

Meanwhile, MS was suspected of violating Article 5 paragraph 1 letter a or b or Article 12 of the Corruption Eradication Law.
