President Zelensky: We Will Ensure Every Resident Returns From Capacity

JAKARTA - President Volodymyr Zelensky ensured his government would continue to seek to bring home Ukrainian soldiers who are prisoners in the war with Russia.

He said this was following a round of third negotiations with Russia held at the Ciragan Palace, Istanbul Turkey on Wednesday agreed to exchange more than 1,000 prisoners of war on each side.

President Zelensky in his post on Telegram said those who returned were sick or seriously injured.

"The soldiers who returned today defend Ukraine in various frontline sectors," he wrote.

"A large number have spent more than three years as prisoners. All received important support and medical assistance," President Zelensky said.

"Don't worry," she said.

While in his post on Twitter, President Zelensky thanked all those who contributed to the 9th phase of the war prisoner exchange.

"For a thousand families, this means happiness can embrace their loved ones again," he wrote.

President Zelensky added the importance of continuing to exchange prisoners of war.

"Repetitioning all of our citizens is a priority for the country. And we will continue to do everything possible to ensure that every citizen of ours returns from the fire," he said.

As previously reported, the Russia-Ukraine negotiations discussed yesterday's exchange of prisoners further on both sides, although there has been no sign of a ceasefire or meeting of leaders of the two countries.

Russian delegation chief Vladimir Medinsky said negotiators agreed to exchange at least 1,200 more prisoners of war from each side, and Russia had offered to hand over 3,000 other Ukrainian bodies.
