The Homecoming Dared To Hide In A Vegetable Truck, Finally Caught By The Police On The Cikampek Toll Road

CIKARANG - Police have secured a truck filled with vegetables that was also carrying homecoming travelers during the Lebaran 2021 homecoming ban on kilometer 31 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, West Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, West Java.

A number of travelers were riding in the back of the truck along with vegetables being brought from Cibitung Main Market, Bekasi Regency, West Java.

One of the travelers Alia (30) admitted that she was desperate to ride a vegetable truck because she didn't know how to get back to her hometown. He rode a vegetable truck from the Central Market of CIbitung to Karawang.

"I am from Cibitung going to Karawang. Participating in the market pay Rp50 thousand because there is no bus, I want to ride, especially if I don't have a motorbike," he said as quoted by Antara, Thursday, May 6.

Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Director Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo said seven travelers were in the vegetable truck. They are willing to be transported by trucks with vegetables so they can return to their hometowns.

"We found that it was carrying travelers. Yes, it was a vegetable truck that was used to transport travelers. We turned around," he said.

Homecoming in a vegetable truck

Sambodo revealed that even though the government has banned homecoming, there are still many residents who are reckless. On the first day of insulation alone, hundreds of vehicles were caught in the insulation and then asked to make a U-turn.

"For only 40 minutes, from 24.00 WIB to 00.40 WIB, 46 vehicles were turned around," he continued.

Those who are turned around want to go to West Java and Central Java. They did not admit to going on a homecoming trip and could not show required documents such as SIKM and assignment letters, so they had to turn them around.

"We also see a decrease in traffic on the Japek Toll road for private vehicles. But the data will come from Jasa Marga," said Sambodo.

Sambodo emphasized that the blockage point at KM 31 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road will be guarded 24 hours non-stop. There are 130 police personnel assisted by the Transportation Agency and Satpol PP to carry out guarding.

"Guarding this examination is 24 hours, divided into two to three hours alternating without stopping until May 17," he said.
