Gerindra Urges People Not To Get Together During Eid

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Gerindra faction of the DPR, Ahmad Muzani, reminded the public to discipline health protocols because the COVID-19 pandemic is still threatening. Moreover, there are three new variants of the virus mutation that have now entered Indonesia.

According to Muzani, public awareness to prevent transmission of COVID-19 was not high, aka still low.

"Even if there is a chance we will gather, for whatever reason we will definitely gather," said Muzani at the DPR / MPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, May 6.

A concrete example is the crowd in Tanah Abang, at stations and in the center of crowds in many cities ahead of Eid. Muzani said, it seemed like suddenly there was an atmosphere of freedom because after a long period of being trapped by fear of COVID-19.

"So there is momentum to gather, and this includes the moment we go home in a crowd, on planes, airports, stations, at crossings. Even though what needs to be done to prevent COVID-19 is awareness regarding the dangers of COVID-19. each person, "explained the member of Commission I DPR.

Therefore, the Secretary General of Gerindra asked the public to comply with the rules for prohibiting homecoming in order to break the chain of spreading COVID-19. The Gerindra faction also hopes that people will guard themselves by sacrificing themselves not to crowd and gather.

"Not going home is part of each of us to prevent the spread. Not gathering with relatives is part of preventing the spread. Because, it is easy for the spread of COVID-19 to gather in many people and in many places," he said.

According to Muzani, the government needs to revisit to open tourist attractions. This is because tourist attractions are places where it is possible to gather and could potentially become a source of new clusters.

"If on the one hand we have all made sacrifices not to go home and not gather, there is still the opportunity to gather, then it is tempting for people to gather. Then the space for gathering should be narrowed. At least with the nuclear family," he said.

Including Eid prayers on Eid al-Fitr and Takbiran nights. Muzani appealed to the traveling takbir should be abolished and carried out in their respective homes.
