JAKARTA - A housewife suffered a number of injuries as a result of the 12 kg LPG gas cylinder explosion, the red "Bright Gas" brand owned by Pertamina, which occurred on Jalan Wijaya Kusuma 2, Malaka Sari, Duren Sawit District, East Jakarta, Monday, July 21, 2025, afternoon.

The injured victim suffered burns and had to be rushed to the Hospital Emergency Installation (IGD).

Meanwhile, one house building was seen destroyed by the explosion. Three other houses were also damaged by the explosion.

According to Riski, a local resident, before the explosion, he smelled a gas leak.

Before being evacuated, the leaking gas immediately triggered an explosion and destroyed one house and several other buildings were affected.

"Earlier suddenly there was a big explosion, that's why I was surprised too. From dawn I smelled gas, maybe it happened that the one who had another rented was another stove, so there was an explosion right away. Because there was no ventilation out," he told reporters.

Riski said the victim was a woman aged about 50 years. The victim is thought to be cooking in the kitchen.

"Victim 1 woman happened to have been taken to the ER. Approximately 3 to 4 buildings were damaged," he said.

The incident of the explosion of 12 kg LPG gas cylinders from Pertamina's red "Bright Gas" brand caused an uproar among Malaka Sari residents, Duren Sawit.

"Residents immediately panicked, the explosion was loud," he said.

Currently, the case is still under investigation by the Duren Sawit Police to determine the main cause of the explosion.
