Viral Head Of RT Gen Z In North Jakarta, DPRD: It Turns Out That There Are Also Those Who Are Ready To Take Social Responsibility

JAKARTA - Secretary of Commission A of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Mujiyono, appreciated the figure of Sahdan Arya Maulana, a 19-year-old youth who became chairman of RT, Rawa Badak Selatan Village, Koja District, North Jakarta.

According to Mujiyono, the breakthrough used RT operational funds and residents' contributions to repair the roads carried out by Sahdan could be an inspiration for other young people, especially Generation Z.

"This is clear evidence that the younger generation, especially Gen Z, who is often called the spoiled generation oftensics, are also ready to take social responsibility and leadership in their environment," Mujiyono told reporters, Thursday, July 17.

From this, Mujiyono encouraged the birth of more young leaders at the RT/RW level. The DKI Provincial Government is asked to provide space for guidance and training for young people.

"We need assistance so that young people like Sahdan are not only given the opportunity, but also support to carry out their duties optimally," he said.

Furthermore, Mujiyono views that Gen Z's presence in the local government structure will enrich the perspective, accelerate innovation, and strengthen the involvement of citizens in urban development.

"In my opinion, this is in line with the spirit of autonomy, participation, and leadership regeneration which has also been our concern as representatives of the people of Jakarta," he concluded.

In view of the status of generation Z, Sahdan, who was successfully elected democratically as Chair of RT 07 RW 08, Rawa Badak Selatan Village, Koja District, North Jakarta.

"Alhamdulillah, I won with 126 votes, while my opponent got 17 votes," he said during an interview on Monday, July 14, 2025.

When he first took office, Sahdan and his team received various responses from the surrounding community. Many provide support and there are also some who doubt the leadership of the Gen Z era.

"Some say Gen Z is lazy, can't work, or there won't be development," he said, smiling.

In the time of his leadership which has only been running for two months, Sahdan's work in the spotlight is road casting. The road casting, which had gone viral, did not use government funds but used contributions from local residents.
