Political communication observer from Esa Unggul University, Jamiluddin Ritonga, assesses that the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, needs to prove his accusations regarding the alleged existence of a major political agenda behind the issue of fake diplomas and the discourse on impeaching the Vice President, Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
According to Jamiluddin, the accusations seem unfounded and tend to tend tend to be tendentious.
"There are two considerations that strengthen this. First, the issue of fake diplomas actually surfaced when Jokowi was still president. At that time Jokowi's political power was very large, so many elements of society chose to remain silent," said Jamiluddin, Tuesday, July 16.
After stepping down, he continued, the group that raised the issue did not change. "The players are still Roy Suryo and his friends. They are consistent with their beliefs regarding Jokowi's diploma," he said.
He added, if there is great strength playing, there should be a bubble of support or a change in the direction of the attack. But in fact, the issue remains voiced by the same group.
"Even if there is additional support, it is more because they see the persistence of Roy Suryo and his friends. They only support, not part of the great power that makes Roy Suryo a pawn to bring down Jokowi," he said.
Jamiluddin also responded to the proposal for the impeachment of Gibran which was voiced by the TNI Retired Forum. According to him, the accusation that retired forces are being used is too much.
"Most of the retired people are elderly and have no political ambitions. They want this nation to run according to the corridor of the law. They also have integrity, and it is not easy for anyone to use," he said.
He considered that if Jokowi accused Gibran of having great power behind the discourse on impeachment, then it would show a lack of understanding of the characters of the retired.
"For them, the future of the nation is much more important. No matter how small the threat to the country, they will fight. So naive if there is an assumption that they can be driven. It underestimates their integrity," he added.
As a former president, said Jamiluddin, Jokowi should have made accusations accompanied by evidence. "If it is only based on political feelings and is not accompanied by data, then it has the potential to break the integrity of the nation," he said.
Previously, in an interview in Solo on Monday, July 14, Jokowi said that there was a large political agenda that was being moved to damage its reputation.
He considered that the issue of fake diplomas and the impeachment of Gibran was not an incident that stood alone, but part of a systematic effort to reduce his image.
"This is my political feeling. There is a big agenda to reduce my political reputation, to downgrade," said Jokowi.
