DPR Will Supervise People's School Program

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, welcomed the launch of the People's School program which was just inaugurated by the government. He ensured that the DPR would oversee and supervise the People's School program as an innovative step to expand access to education to remote areas in Indonesia.

"Regarding people's schools, of course, they are very innovative. We hope from the DPR that there should be no people in Indonesia who are neglected, not getting very good education," said Puan at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Tuesday, July 15.

Nevertheless, Puan reminded that the implementation of this program will definitely face various technical and social challenges in the field. Therefore, according to her, the good intentions of the People's School program must be maintained so as not to cause new inequality.

"But I also remind you that the challenges on the ground are very many. So there are indeed many things that still need to be perfected. And don't let the good intentions or something that should have been a good goal Then become exclusive," said Puan.

According to Puan, the presence of the People's School is a complement that strengthens the national education system as a whole. He hopes that there will be no competition with existing schools.

"Then it becomes a competition with existing schools. However, this actually has to complete existing schools and what has been done in the field," he said.

Puan also ensured that the DPR would continue to supervise and provide support in the process of improving this program. He hopes that the collaboration between the DPR and the government can continue.

"Because of something new, of course, it cannot be immediately perfect. And I hope that the synergy between the Government and the DPR can continue to run in perfecting this. With the aim of being for the education of all the nation's children," he concluded.
