Bandar Lampung City Government Pursues Legality Of Siger SMA Absorbers Rejected By State High School

JAKARTA - The Bandar Lampung City Government (Pemkot) continues to coordinate with the Lampung Provincial Government regarding the legality of SMA Siger which was formed to accommodate students who are not accommodated in public high schools.

"We continue to coordinate with the Lampung Provincial Government, and have even met with Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal regarding the discussion of SMA Siger," said Bandarlampung Mayor Eva Dwiana in Bandar Lampung, Tuesday, July 15, quoted by Antara.

He also hopes that the Governor of Lampung can approve the Bandarlampung City Government program, because this is intended for children who have long dropped out of school and who are not accepted to SMAN.

"Hopefully this program will be approved so that the Siger school can begin to be realized this school year," he said.

Eva also said that the legality of the Siger High School operational permit or the Siger Prakarsa Bunda Foundation was not yet fully completed, but had been submitted to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek).

"From the center, but from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) and other regulations are still in progress. If we wait too long, we are worried that the children will not be able to go to school," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Lampung Provincial Education Office, Thomas Amirico, said the provincial government should support the formation or establishment of SMA Siger by the Bandar Lampung City Government.

"The Bandar Lampung City Government is trying to establish SMA Siger through a foundation facilitated and supported by the Lampung Provincial Government," he said.

He said that the technical and administrative steps of SMA Siger are being processed, and coordination between the City and Provincial Education Offices continues to be carried out so that the operation of SMA Siger can run according to applicable regulations.

"For SMA Siger itself, although it was initially estimated that it could not operate this year, it has started running with the city government trying to legalize it," he said.
