Playing On Pelabuhan Ratu Beach, Three Children Dragged By Waves, One Died

SUKABUMI - Three children in Sukabumi, West Java were dragged by big waves while playing with water on Buffalo Beach, Cipatuguran, Palabuhanratu. One of them was found drowned while the other two were rescued.

The incident began when the three victims were busy bathing around the beach. Suddenly a big wave came which immediately dragged them into the middle of the sea.

Two victims, namely a woman named Indah (10) and a man named Ilham (12) were rescued by a coast guard team. However, Fahmi (12) could not be helped and lost by the ocean currents.

The Coordinator of the Sukabumi SAR Post, Suryo Adianto, said that the victim's body was found by the joint SAR team in a prone position at a radius of approximately 1 nautical mile (NM) from the initial incident location.

"The victim was found by the joint SAR team this afternoon and immediately evacuated to the funeral home to be handed over to the family," he said Tuesday, July 15.

According to Suryo, the search for victims involved dozens of joint personnel, namely the Sukabumi SAR Post, Polair, Palabuhanratu Navy Post, Polsek and Palabuhanratu Koramil, and other volunteers.

The search for victims of Fahmi involves various methods, ranging from sweeping the sea using rubber boats as far as 2 NM, sweeping land for 2 kilometers, to visual monitoring from the air with the help of drones as far as 300 meters.

Now the victim's body has been handed over to the family, and the plan is to be buried immediately.
