JAKARTA - The police have begun to block access to Jakarta to prevent travelers from going home during the prohibition period. The lockdown was carried out under police custody at 00.00 WIB at midnight.

"All the points we have prepared, including 17 check points and 14 isolation points, will operate starting tonight at 24.00 WIB," said Dirlantas Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo, Wednesday, May 5.

At exactly 00.00 WIB, officers will inspect vehicles leaving and entering Jakarta. Private vehicles and public vehicles are inspected by the isolation officer for the prohibition of going home.

"All vehicles are checked, either private or public vehicles. For trips that are prohibited other than non-homecoming, such as transportation of logistical goods, grief or illness, pregnant women who give birth. Apart from that, no trips are allowed, "continued Sambodo.

There are 4,276 personnel stationed in the Jakarta area. Polda places personnel at 14 isolation points and 17 check points.

Previously, the Police Headquarters Traffic Inspector General Istiono said Ketupat Operation 2021 would be held for 12 days, from 6 to 17 May 2021.

There are 155,000 joint personnel consisting of 90,502 Police personnel and 11,533 TNI personnel as well as 52,880 personnel from related agencies who are deployed in Ketupat Operation.

In this operation, said Istiono, the focus that was included in the priority of the National Police was preventing COVID-19 through isolation and enforcement of health protocols.
