JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya stated that the alleged defamation case related to allegations of fake diplomas reported by the 7th President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has been upgraded to the investigation stage.
The decision to increase the status of the case is based on the results of a case conducted by the State Security Sub-Directorate (Kamneg) on Thursday, July 10.
"Based on the title of the case last night, the first police report, the reporter is the brother of an HJW engineer, in the investigation process that has been carried out in the case title concluded, it was found that the alleged criminal incident was found so that the case was upgraded to the investigation stage," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi to reporters, Friday, July 11.
Then, investigators also decided to raise the status of three police reports which were still related to allegations of fake diplomas to the investigation stage.
The three police reports are the result of the withdrawal of handling from several police stations in the jurisdiction of the Polda Metro Jaya.
The report concerns allegations of criminal acts inciting others to commit criminal acts or describing, transmitting electronic information that is inciting, inviting or influencing other people who cause hatred or hostility towards individuals and or disseminating electronic information containing lies as regulated in Article 160 of the Criminal Code, and or Article 28 paragraph 2 of the ITE Law.

With this status increase, investigators will collect evidence and instructions to find or determine the suspect.
Meanwhile, continued Ade, there were two other police reports that did not have legal certainty. This is because the reporting party had withdrawn its report.
"There are reports that will soon be given legal certainty considering that the reporter withdrew the police report and did not attend the invitation to clarify," said Ade.
