Elf Garut Seringaya Enters A 7 Meter Abyss, All Passengers Are Safe

GARUT A common type microbus majoring in Garut 'Singajaya plunged into a seven-meter deep ravine on Jalan Raya Banjarwangi, Garut Regency, West Java, Thursday (10 July). Luckily, all nine passengers survived.

The head of the Banjarwangi Police, Ipda Ipar Suparlan, said the incident was a single accident. The driver allegedly lost control while trying to close the door which suddenly opened when the vehicle was traveling.

"All victims were successfully evacuated and immediately rushed to Nurhayati Cikajang General Hospital for medical treatment," said Ipar when confirmed, Antara, Thursday, July 10.

The accident occurred at around 08.00 WIB. The car with police number Z 7718 DB driven by Endin (47) drove from Garut to Singajaya. While passing in Ciawitali Village, Banjarwangi District, the left front door suddenly opened.

The driver who tried to close the door reflexively pulled the wheel, until finally the car lost control and entered the ravine.

"He accidentally pulled the wheel, so the vehicle lost control and plunged into a ravine," said Ipar.

The evacuation was carried out by police officers assisted by residents and officers from various agencies. All passengers were successfully evacuated safely.

Of the nine passengers, two people suffered minor injuries. The rest are in good health and have been picked up by their respective families," said Ipar.

Ipar appealed to road users to be careful when crossing the Singajaya Banjarwangi route, which has many bends and ravines on the side of the road.

"To be more careful, especially when crossing accident-prone routes such as in the Banjarwangi area", he concluded.
