Jokowi's Fake Certificate Case Is Considered Insufficient Evidence, Attorney: Case Closed!

JAKARTA - The attorney for the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo, Yakub Hasibuan, stated that the process of holding a special case related to the alleged fake diploma had been completed by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police. As a result, the investigation was deemed to have complied with the procedure, and this case was officially closed.

"So today's special case title has been completed and confirmed that the investigation carried out by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police is in accordance with the proper SOP. So, case closed," Yakub told reporters, Wednesday, July 9.

Yakub explained, in the title of the case, the reporting parties who were members of the Ulama Defenders and Activists Team (TPUA) including Roy Suryo and Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar were unable to show any legal defects in the previous investigation process.

"They didn't manage to show where the defects of the Bareskrim investigation were," said Yakub.

Furthermore, said Yakub, TPUA also does not present sufficient new evidence or novum to reopen cases that have been investigated since last year.

They also did not succeed in providing new evidence. Nothing can be used as a basis to state that there are allegations of fake diplomas," he said.

The special case title lasted for about five hours, starting at 09.00 WIB to 14.00 WIB.

Previously, the Directorate of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri scheduled a case title on July 3, but was postponed at the request of TPUA. In the postponement letter, TPUA requested that a number of parties be involved, such as Komnas HAM, DPR RI, telematics expert Roy Suryo, as well as UGM academics and alumni Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar.

However, until the case was completed, there was no novum that made the case of President Jokowi's alleged fake diploma able to be reopened legally.
