JAKARTA - The plan to increase parking rates in Jakarta to be applied by the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, received a negative response from a number of four-wheeled vehicle drivers in Jakarta.
Although the increase in parking rates aims to reduce the use of private vehicles, this policy is considered detrimental to the community, especially DKI Jakarta and its surroundings.
Danar Pusung, a four-wheeled private vehicle user, is currently feeling an increase in official parking rates. He felt the tariff was quite expensive.
The man who has a career in the entertainment world as an Artist Manager often travels to a number of locations by car. He also felt a number of variants of expensive official parking rates.
"It seems more expensive than before. Official parking rates also do not guarantee the safety of vehicles when parking, once the rearview mirror of my car was lost even though it was parked at the official paid parking location. And even then there is no responsibility from the parking manager," said Danar when contacted by VOI, Tuesday, July 8, 2025.
Danar's bitter experience made him decide to use illegal parking services or unofficial parking lots.

"Some places are better off choosing illegal parking, especially since yesterday to PRJ parking, it was made flat (the tariff). Meanwhile, if we only have 1 or 2 hours, we will lose," he said.
Danar was pessimistic when he heard the news of the increase in official parking rates which would be applied in Jakarta by the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung.
"Whatever government policy, I don't know, but what is clear is that it does not benefit the people," he said.
"About parking, the parking manager is profitable," he added.
Danar hopes that the official parking manager in Jakarta must be professional and fully responsible if bad things happen to users of official parking services.
"Regional and paid workers must be neater and safer, and there are maximum hours or parking packages so that they are cheaper. Yes, it's like a monthly subscription, so we people pay Rp. 300 thousand per month, for example, but are free to park anywhere and how long. Or make parking packages Rp. 20,000 from 6 am to 6 pm, for example," he hoped.
In addition, Danar also criticized the plan to increase parking rates in Jakarta which will be implemented by DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung.
"If the goal is to reduce vehicles, make a parking lot at every city border. Then prepare Transjakarta or other mass transport vehicles, it's over," he concluded.
The polemic of parking problems in Jakarta is still homework for the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. Moreover, recently, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) lowered the revenue target of parking service taxes in the draft 2025 Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) changes.
In the revised document, the DKI Provincial Government cut the parking tax target of IDR 50 billion, from IDR 350 billion to IDR 300 billion.
