Village Cooperatives Now Not Only Selling Basic Necessities, Will Be Involved In The Rumah Renovation Project Of IDR 43.6 Trillion

JAKARTA - Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs Budi Arie Setiadi ensured that the Red and White Village Cooperatives would be involved in the construction and renovation of people's houses.

The involvement of this cooperative is expected to strengthen the role of the village economy, especially in housing programs.

"Yes, (the operation) will be involved in housing projects. They will assist consolidation, organization, including data on villagers who need a house," Budi said when met in Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Monday, July 7.

Even so, Budi said there had been no further technical discussion regarding the cooperative cooperation scheme in the 3 million house project. However, he appreciated the initiative from the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) who wanted to cooperate with cooperatives in this program.

According to him, in the future village cooperatives will not only focus on providing basic necessities such as basic necessities, fertilizers, logistics, or services such as pharmacies and village clinics, but also become part of a decent residential solution.

"This village Cooperative can organize the community. This is part of the economy of the villagers," he said.

Currently, the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs is focusing on forming 80,000 Red and White Villages Cooperatives as pillars of driving the local economy.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Fahri Hamzah revealed that the Red and White Cooperative will be involved in the renovation program of two million houses in various regions. This program is targeted for completion in December 2025.

"We want to activate the Merah Putih village cooperative to participate in the provision of building materials for the renovation of this house," said Fahri in Jakarta, Monday (23/6).

Fahri explained, of the total renovation budget of IDR 43.6 trillion, each house will receive assistance worth IDR 21.8 million. In detail, IDR 1.8 million for training and administration, IDR 2.5 million directly to the owner of the house, and IDR 17.5 million is used for purchasing building materials, some of which will be supplied by cooperatives.

This step is referred to as part of empowering the village economy and optimizing the role of cooperatives in national development programs.
