JAKARTA - The Regent of Morowali, Iksan Baharudin Abdul Rauf, continues to show his commitment to solving electricity problems in his area. After successfully normalizing electricity supply in Witaponda and Bumi Raya sub-districts, now the focus is directed to Bungku District.

The big breakthrough bore fruit with the inauguration of the first inauguration of the 150 kV Kolonedale High Voltage Air Line (SUTT) Bungku and the 150 kV Bungku Substation (GI) by PT PLN (Persero) Sulawesi Development Main Unit through the South Sulawesi Project Implementation Unit.

This infrastructure lighting is a milestone because it is the first 150 kV electricity system to be present in Morowali Regency since Indonesia's independence.

"People have been waiting for solutions to the limited power of electricity in Morowali for a long time. The presence of this infrastructure has not only answered the crisis, but also opened up investment opportunities, increased MSMEs, and encouraged regional economic growth," said Iksan, Monday, July 7.

The project includes a 162.5 kilometer sirkit (kms) transmission network that crosses two districts, with 254 towers and one substation with a capacity of 30 MVA. The GI Bungku operation is projected to increase power to ~16.8 MW. Equivalent to 95,074 new customers and increase the quality of voltage from 18.37 kV to 20.3 kV.

Not only is this a solution to the electricity crisis that has hit Morowali for years, this infrastructure is also part of the national de-dieselized program, namely the replacement of diesel power plants (PLTD) that are wasteful of fuel and cost.

The Manager of PLN UPP Sulsel, Edy Roy Antonius Sidabutar, appreciated the support from the Morowali Regency Government and all elements of society.

"It's been 80 years since Indonesia's independence, Morowali has only relied on diesel power plants. We want the people of Morowali to be able to enjoy electricity without having to turn off," said Edy.

Edy added, this project will be continued with the Line 2 energy process which is targeted for completion on July 31, 2025. The entire development process also maximizes the use of local components, with the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) of 69.94 percent for GI and 62.5 percent for SUTT.

With this achievement, Earth Tepe Asa Moroso is now entering a new era of more reliable, efficient, and environmentally friendly electricity, becoming an important foundation for industrial growth and community welfare in the future.
