Today, Vice President Gibran Is Scheduled To Review Direct Sinking Ships In The Bali Strait

JAKARTA - Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Gibran Rakabuming Raka is scheduled to directly review the handling of the tragedy of the sinking ship KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya at the SAR Operations Post and the Potential for Joint SAR at Ketapang Port, Banyuwangi Regency, East Java, on Sunday, July 6.

Security forces from both the TNI and Police were seen conducting thorough sterilization in various strategic locations in the ASDP Ketapang Branch area, starting from the waiting room and several other important points for the safety and smoothness of the working visit of Vice President Gibran.

Information obtained by Antara, Gibran Rakabuming will review the SAR Operations Pokso and the Joint SAR Potential in the Ketapang-Gilimanuk ferry port area, to ensure the handling of the sinking ship incident of KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya in the Bali Strait, which occurred on Wednesday, July 2 last night.

In addition to reviewing the SAR Operations Post, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming will also meet the families of the victims of the sinking ship who are still missing and are being searched by the joint SAR team.

On Saturday, the joint Search and Rescue Team (SAR) reported that it had found objects at the seabed of a depth of 40-60 meters suspected of being the carcass of KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya.

However, the SAR team still needs to re-verify with several more stages using an underwater object detection device, namely a remote operation vehicle or ROV and sonar or sound navigation and ranking device on KRI Fanildo Island.

KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya carrying 53 passengers and 12 crew members and 22 units of vehicles sank in the Bali Strait on Wednesday, July 2, at around 23.35 WIB.

To date, the number of victims found safe is 30 people, six people were found dead, and 29 other victims are still missing and are being searched.
