ATM Machines Burglarized By Security Personnel, Bank Sulselbar Claims Supervision According To SOPs

JAKARTA - Bank South Sulawesi and West Sulawesi (Sulselbar) claim that the supervision carried out on ATM machines spread across various regions is in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), but the burglary still occurs, and is even carried out by security personnel.

As recently, there was an ATM break-in in Wajo Regency by Bank Sulselbar security itself.

"We have also implemented the implementation of tiered supervision, layered security. We have even implemented all regulations related to security," said Bank Sulselbar Corporate Secretary Hartani Djurnie as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, July 5.

Hartani said that there were no suspicions regarding the security activities carried out by security officers who were given full mandate for ATM security access.

So that the incident of this burglary is recognized by Hartani as a lesson for Bank Sulselbar in the future to be more careful.

Nevertheless, Hartani said that this incident did not necessarily generalize the treatment of security forces from vendors.

"This security is outsourced, he is the person we returned to the vendor and the information is that layoffs have been carried out. Regarding the sustainability of the case, we have submitted it to the authorities," he said.

Hartani did not forget to appreciate the fast work of the Sengkang Police who swiftly handled the burglary case of the Bank Sulselbar ATM machine in Wajo Regency.

Furthermore, a number of preventive measures to this case will be tightened by Bank Sulselbar, such as strengthening security, increasing ATM physical conditions and increasing the number of ATM treatments.

In addition, it will also impose ideal ATM security standards that are claimed to have been carried out previously according to legulators, ranging from ATM technology, CCTV, closed ATM machine rooms, including monitoring and quick response when there are suspicious transactions.

"As another preventive measure, we will also ask vendors to educate security personnel who are supplied to be more vigilant, protect themselves from the temptation of lifestyle, property, thrones, and women," he explained.
