President Prabowo Optimistic There Is An Increase In Cooperation Between Indonesia And Saudi Arabia

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto assessed his meeting with the Crown Prince and Saudi Arabian Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud as a positive thing, optimistic about improving cooperation relations between the two countries in various fields.

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto made a state visit to Saudi Arabia on July 1-3. This is his first visit to Saudi Arabia since being sworn in in October last year.

"I think it's very productive. We agreed to increase cooperation in all fields," President Prabowo told reporters, citing the YouTube channel of the Presidential Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia, Thursday, July 3.

"I am very satisfied. God willing, we will see an increase in our cooperation and Saudi Arabia," continued President Prabowo.

Prince MBS welcomed President Prabowo at the Al-Salam Palace, Jeddah to then attend the state welcoming ceremony, quoted from the Saudi Press Agency.

President Prabowo's meeting with Prince MBS who was accompanied by delegations from each country at the As Salam Palace, Jeddah, was the first meeting of the Highest Coordination Council (DKT) or the Saudi-Indonesian Supreme Coordination Council.

"We are just forming the Highest Coordination Council between Saudis and Indonesia," said President Prabowo.

DKT is a high-level bilateral mechanism led directly by the two Heads of Government to harmonize strategic interests and strengthen coordination between the two countries.

One of DKT's important decisions is the agreement of the DKT Governance which will become a framework for DKT's institutional reference as stated in the Minutes of Meeting signed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia and the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia.

"The management of the DKT will be coordinated by the two Foreign Ministers," the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement to reporters.

In addition to bilateral relations, the two leaders also discussed geopolitical issues, with President Prabowo saying the two sides have something in common.

"There are many geopolitical problems, we have the same vision," said President Prabowo.
