JAKARTA - Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei has vehemently denied claims by the Zionist regime accusing Iran of having a secret program to developing nuclear weapons.
Iran has no plans to acquire nuclear weapons, but has the right to enrich uranium for civilian use, Baqaei told RT.
Baqaei condemned the recent Israeli and US attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities as a dangerous and groundless act.
The spokesman rejected Israel's claim accusing Tehran of secretly developing nuclear weapons, a justification for the military attack.
"The report from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) supports Iran's position," he added.
"I think Iran has explained over the past two or three decades that they are not looking for nuclear weapons," Baqaei said, quoted by Tasnim on June 30.
"There has never been any enrichment of weapons in Iran. Please, you can read the IAEA report and show one clue or evidence that Iran's nuclear program deviates from its peaceful goals," he continued.
"In fact, Iran's nuclear program remains completely peaceful," said Baqaei.
The spokesman referred to IAEA Director-General Rafael Grossi's statement earlier this month that his agency found no evidence of "systematic efforts" by Iran to develop nuclear weapons.
However, Baqaei also voiced his frustration at the IAEA for not strongly condemning the attack.
"What is expected from the IAEA and the Board of Governors is to remain loyal to their responsibilities and mandates by emphasizing, firmly, the attacks of the US and Israeli regimes on our nuclear facilities," he said.

Baqaei then defended Iran's right to enrich uranium under the Nuclear Weapons Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
"The US offers a very dangerous interpretation of NPT, namely developing countries do not have the right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. This is unacceptable to responsible and dignified NPT members," he concluded.
