JAKARTA - People's schools (SR) located at the Handayani Center, PPA Street No.1, Cipayung, Bambu Apus, East Jakarta are reportedly ready to operate in mid-July 2025. It is planned that this school will accommodate as many as 75 students from families with extreme poor categories.

Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf or who is familiarly called Gus Ipul is known to directly observe the condition of the school today, Sunday (29/6/2025) together with Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya and Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo.

Gus Ipul stated that the school renovation process had entered the finalization stage and was ready to hold an orientation period for students and teachers on July 14, 2025.

"This is the finalization stage, God willing, on July 14, 2025, according to President Prabowo's direction, we will start the materialulation or orientation period for students and teachers," said Gus Ipul to the media after inspecting the people's school building, Sunday, June 29.

During the visit, Gus Ipul also invited prospective students and student guardians to directly review school facilities to be introduced to the learning environment which will be used in the upcoming teaching and learning process.

Meanwhile, PU Minister Dody Hanggodo revealed that the construction of people's schools in the Handayani Center area has so far reached 92%. Of the 100 points of people's schools spread across various regions, the national development progress average has reached 83%.

"Those at this location are 90% maybe 92%, while in some places it is still between 88-90%. So on average, the development of people's schools throughout Indonesia is 83%," explained Dody.

The people's school program is President Prabowo Subianto's initiative which is set through Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 8 of 2025. The target is that as many as 200 points of public schools will be built throughout Indonesia.

This school is specifically intended for the Desil 1 and 2 categories, namely households with the lowest welfare level nationally. This program covers primary to secondary education levels, ranging from elementary schools (SD), junior high schools (SMP) to high schools (SMA) as a form of state support for equitable access to education for the extreme poor.
