Police Dismantle Case Of IDR1 Billion Idle Investments, Perpetrators Through WhatsApp Spread Multiple Money Modes

BANYUWANGI - The Banyuwangi Police Team, East Java, has uncovered a case of fraudulent investment. There were 35 victims of this fraudulent investment with a loss of IDR 1 billion.

This fraudulent investment began to be mobilized by the perpetrators in November 2020-March 2021. The police named a suspect with the initials ZS (26).

Head of Banyuwangi Police, Kombes Arman Asmara Syarifudin, said this case was revealed after one of the victims named Inda Dwi (21) reported to the police.

The victim initially saw the status of the perpetrator's WhatsApp message in November 2020. This status included opening an investment slot with a capital of IDR 100 thousand to IDR 150 thousand in five days.

Then the IDR 200 thousand became IDR 300 thousand in six days and IDR 300 thousand became IDR 450 thousand in seven days. Tempted by this mode, the victim then participated in this fraudulent investment.

"Members are getting interested and asking about the system and how to follow the investment", Arman told reporters, Tuesday, May 4.

Initially, the members got the money according to what the perpetrator promised. But on March 17, the doubling of investment money stagnated.

There are 11 groups that the victims participated in, with investment values ranging from IDR 3.5 million to IDR 7.5 million. Everything has not paid off since March 17. The total loss suffered by Inda Dwi was IDR 45 million. This case was reported to the police.

After conducting an investigation, the fraudulent investment actor was arrested. Also secured was the savings book, Rp45 million in cash to the checking account of the suspect ZS.

In this case, ZS was charged with Articles 378 and 372 of the Criminal Code regarding fraud and embezzlement.
