JAKARTA - Middle East University of Indonesia (UI) study analyst Muhammad Syaroni Rofii considers that the United States' unilateral attacks on Iran are increasingly making the world in uncertainty.

"The US attack on Iran is increasingly putting the world at risk," Syaroni said when contacted by ANTARA in Jakarta on Sunday.

He argues that so far Iran has considered the US as a mediator for nuclear affairs, but when there are unilateral actions without the UN's blessing, it has made the US position unlike a global leader.

The US attack on Iran's nuclear facilities, he said, had invited a response from Iran. "Iran officials had mentioned that they would target US military assets in the region if the country interfered. What is certain is that it does not remain silent," he said.

In addition, Syaroni also said the US attack on Iran also had an impact on conditions in the region today.

"The Middle East will certainly be volatile, because US allies in the region certainly hope that the US can use a diplomatic approach but with this event, the escalation has the potential to occur at several points," he said.

He added that at a global level, the event would trigger tensions because actors no longer consider international law and consensus as a guideline.

"The most affected are of course the global economy, oil prices have the potential to rise, supply chains have the potential to be disrupted when there is a continuous escalation," he said.

He further said that the current conflict in the Middle East region does not have the potential to become the 3rd World War because the ongoing major war will involve direct confrontation of major countries.

"What will happen in the future is more like a Cold War, where the interproxy war is dominant," he said.
