Emergency Landing At Kualanamu Airport Due To Bomb Threats, TNI Military Command 1/BB Moves Quickly To Carry Out Security

JAKARTA - The Saudi Arabian Airlines aircraft with flight number SVA 5688 serving the Jeddah - Muscat Oman - Surabaya route made an emergency landing at Kualanamu International Airport, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra, on Saturday, June 21, at 09.27 WIB. This emergency landing was carried out after receiving a bomb threat.

Following up on the situation, Pangdam I/Bukit Barisan through Kapendam I/Bukit Barisan, Colonel Inf Asrul Harahap explained that Kodam I/Bukit Barisan had deployed security forces and the Explosive Disposal Team (Jihandak) to secure the plane landing site.

"Security is strengthened by personnel from the Indonesian Air Force's Kopasgat and Gegana Brimob North Sumatra Police. The security process is carried out in a coordinated manner to ensure the safety of all passengers and crew members," he said.

The evacuation process for all passengers and crew took place quickly, in an orderly manner, and was declared complete at 11.30 WIB. All passengers and crew are temporarily placed in G1 and G2 Buildings at Kualanamu Airport to undergo further inspection and data collection by related parties.

In this security activity, Kodam I/Bukit Barisan deployed 1 Company Level Unit (SSK) Yonkav 6/NK, 1 SST Jihandak Yonzipur 1/DD and was supported by 1 SST Kopasgat TNI AU and 1 SST Gegana Brimob North Sumatra Police.

TNI personnel also helped organize and calm passengers at G1 and G2 Buildings to remain calm and feel safe during the evacuation process.

Saudi Arabia Airlines SVA 5688 carried 376 passengers, consisting of 196 men, 180 women, and 10 crew members. All passengers and crew are safe.

The airport and airline have prepared temporary rest facilities for passengers if the aircraft cannot continue the flight.

The handling of this incident took place safely and according to applicable procedures. The joint team of the TNI, Polri, and airport authorities continues to carry out a thorough inspection of the aircraft and all luggage to ensure the situation is fully safe and under control.
