JAKARTA - Bayraktar Ancinci's unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) developed by Turkey's Baykar managed to complete a low-altitude cruise test and introduce an autonomous target with the Cakir cruise missile produced by Roketsan.

In its posts on social media, the company said, in testing this time the Cakir cruise missile flew at low altitude and hit its target with precision, recognizing it autonomously.

The test verified the advanced target recognition and guidance system of the Cakir missile in the field, as well as showing the effectiveness of Bayraktar's operations in detail with national ammunition.

"Bayraktar AKINCI/MAYAKIR Cruise Missile Low Altitude Flight and Autonomous Target Recognition Fighting Test Direct Hit," Baykar wrote in an upload on X, quoted from Daily Sabah June 19.

Equipped with a domestic and national KTJ-1750 turbojet engine developed by Kale Arge and the agility carried by its design, Cakir easily performs tasks involving 3D road points determined during mission planning, according to the manufacturer, Roketsan.

The missile can reach a range of 150 kilometers, weighing about 275 kilograms (without a booster) and 330 kilograms (with a booster).

The missiles can be launched from various platforms, including fixed-wing and rotary aircraft, UCAVs, tactical-wheeled vehicles, and naval platforms.

Meanwhile, Haluk Bayraktar, Baykar's chief executive, also assessed the trial in a post on social media.

"In the goal of the independence of our defense industry, we have left another important milestone," he wrote.

"The Cakir Cruise missile, which was fired from Bayraktar Akinci, not only hit its target in the test but also flew at a low altitude, recognized its target automatically, and attacked it with direct attack," he added.

"This ability is a force that adds 'intelligence' to our prevention!" he concluded.
