The Second Kubu Agrees, The Joint Committee Of The PWI Unity Congress Formed

JAKARTA - General Chairperson of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) of the Bandung Congress, Hendry Ch Bangun, and the General Chairperson of the PWI Extraordinary Congress (KLB) Jakarta, Zulmansyah Sekedang, finally agreed and signed a decree (SK) containing the composition of the Joint Committee for the PWI United Congress.

The signing was carried out at the press council office, Jakarta, Friday (13/6/2025), witnessed by the Chairman of the Press Council, Komaruddin Hidayat, Deputy Chairman of the Press Council Totok Suryanto, members of the Press Council Yogi Hadi Ismanto and Dahlan Dahi, mediators of the PWI conflict.

The signing of the decree is a step forward to the United Congress which is planned no later than August 30 this year, according to the Jakarta Agreement.

"With the complete PWI Unity Congressional committee, SC and OC can immediately work to prepare for the Congress. Although the deadline for holding the congress is set to a maximum of August 30, if everything is ready, it is possible that the congress can be held sooner. For example, at the end of July or early August," said Hendry.

"With the agreement of the congress committee, I hope that our joint intention for PWI unity will be returned, facilitated and launched. I pray for all the SC and OC committees who have been given the mandate to work together, harmoniously, successfully, always healthy and remain guided by the PD PRT PWI constitution," said Zulmansyah.

In the composition of the committee, it was agreed to enter a new name at the steering committee (SC), namely Totok Suryanto, Deputy Chairman of the Press Council, who represented the neutral element'.

Thus, the SC structure becomes complete, consisting of seven names. Each of the three names is from the PWI of the Bandung Congress and three names from the PWI KLB, plus one name from the neutral element.

Chairman of the Press Council Komaruddin Hidayat highly appreciates PWI's reconciliation efforts. According to Komaruddin, both parties must look forward to resolving the conflict and restoring PWI as one of the important pillars of the Indonesian press ecosystem.

With the formation of the PWI Congressional Committee, which consists of SC and organizing commitments (OC), it is hoped that the PWI Unity Congress can become a democratic and peaceful mechanism to resolve conflicts within the oldest journalist organization in Indonesia.

The PWI Decree regarding the Formation of the Joint Committee for the 2025 PWI Unity Congress was signed by each general chairman and secretary general (secretary general).
