Welcoming Jakarta Anniversary, Starting Tomorrow The DKI Provincial Government Holds Vehicle Tax Whitening

JAKARTA - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta will officially impose a motor vehicle tax bleaching program starting tomorrow Saturday, June 14 to August 31, 2025. This policy was taken to commemorate the 498th Anniversary of the City of Jakarta as well as welcome the 80th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.

Head of the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) of DKI Jakarta Province, Lusiana Herawati, in her statement on Friday, June 13, said that this program is a form of fiscal incentive which aims to encourage public compliance with the obligation to pay taxes.

He explained that during the bleaching period, people who have vehicle tax arrears are only required to pay the principal of the tax without being fined or interest on delays.

"Tax disbursement or abolition of fines and interest sanctions will take effect from Saturday (June 14) until the end of August 2025. This policy is given in the context of the Jakarta Anniversary and the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia," said Lusiana.

According to him, the payment mechanism continues to follow procedures as usual, both online and directly at the Samsat office. However, the advantage of this program is the abolition of the burden of fines that have been an obstacle for some taxpayers in paying off their arrears.

"If someone has arrears, usually what they have to pay is the tax principal plus a fine. But with this incentive, it is enough to pay the main thing," he said.

The Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung Wibowo, had previously also given a signal regarding this bleaching program. He emphasized that this incentive was given as a form of motivation for residents who showed good faith in paying taxes, not as gifts for those who neglected it.

"So, tax bleaching is not given to those who do not pay taxes. Bleaching is given to those who are willing to pay on that day. This means that there is good intention to comply," Pramono said in a separate statement.

He added that this policy is part of the Jakarta Provincial Government's efforts to provide more humane public services while at the same time encouraging active community participation in regional development.

Pramono hopes that this program can be utilized as well as possible by residents, considering that the positive effect will not only have an impact on regional income, but also on vehicle administration order.

In addition to the tax bleaching program, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has also designed a number of special agendas for celebrating Jakarta's anniversary. One of them is the provision of free public transportation services on June 22, 2025, which aims to provide equal mobility access and suppress the use of private vehicles.

With these various programs, the government hopes that the momentum of Jakarta's birthday will not only be a ceremonial celebration, but also bring direct benefits to the community, especially in the field of public services and awareness of tax obligations.
