PALU - Minister of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI), Abdul Kadir Karding, invites the younger generation to dare to take job opportunities abroad through a legal and planned route.
This was conveyed by Karding while attending the socialization themed Job Opportunities, the Signing of MoU, and the Declaration of Prevention of Illegal Indonesian Migrant Workers and Anti-TIP, which was held at Gelora Bumi Kaktus, Palu, Central Sulawesi, Tuesday, June 10.
The event was attended by thousands of high school students, vocational schools, and students from various universities in Palu City.
"More than 1.7 million job vacancies abroad are open to the people of Indonesia. But we have only been able to fill some of them because many are not ready in terms of document, skills, and language," said Karding.
According to him, sectors such as health, manufacturing, construction, and nursing in Japan, Germany, Korea, and Canada offer formal jobs with promising income.
However, he regretted that there were still many residents who chose non-procedural or illegal routes.
"We have to change the paradigm. Working abroad is not only to make money, but also about the future, experience, and honor. But all of that must go through legal channels, not brokers or fake documents," he said.
To encourage the readiness of the younger generation, Karding encourages the formation of Migrant Classes in schools.
Thus, students who are interested in working abroad can be prepared early on, both in terms of technical skills, foreign languages, and mental readiness.
"If schools begin to prepare Migrant Classes, we can print generations that are not only working, but also successful. They can go home with knowledge, experience, and become village economic drivers," said Karding.
He added that the government will strengthen access to training and assistance, especially for underprivileged families and women's groups.
"We will not let the people go their own way. The state must come with data, training, and protection. This is the duty of the government, as well as our shared moral responsibility," said Karding.
