JAKARTA - Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono emphasized the need to strengthen the ASEAN mechanism, when receiving visits from Permanent Representatives of ASEAN Member Countries for ASEAN (Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN/CPR) and Timor-Leste Ambassador to ASEAN, at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jakarta, Thursday.
During the meeting, Foreign Minister Sugiono expressed his appreciation for the significant progress in the framework of ASEAN cooperation, especially after the adoption of the ASEAN Community Vision (ACV) 2045 during the 46th ASEAN Summit in May 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
With the vision of ASEAN which is resilient, innovative, dynamic, and people-centred, ASEAN Community Vision 2045 is a strategic guideline on the vision and steps that ASEAN must achieve in the next 20 years.
"We need to strengthen the ASEAN mechanism, one of which is CPR and the Jakarta channel, as well as strengthen the ASEAN Secretariat and ASEAN Headquarters in Jakarta to optimize our potential in responding to challenges in the region and globally," said Foreign Minister Sugiono, in a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thursday 5 June.
On this occasion, Foreign Minister Sugiono also emphasized the importance of CPR's role in advancing the ASEAN Community Building, effective cross-pillar coordination of ASEAN, and relationships with ASEAN external partners.
