Israel Attacks Syria, Reply To Launch 2 Projectiles

JAKARTA - The Israeli military attacked the location of the Syrian regime's weapons in southern Syria, in Israel's second attack after reporting two projectiles were fired from Syria on Tuesday.

It was not immediately clear who was responsible for the two projectiles.

The state news agency Syria and security sources reported a series of Israeli attacks targeting several locations in rural Damascus and Quneitra and Daraa.

Israel's Defense Minister, Israel Katz, previously said it considers Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa responsible for the two projectile launches.

"We consider the Syrian president to be directly responsible for threats and gunfire against the State of Israel, and a full response will be given soon," Katz said.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the launch of the projectile against Israel had not been verified.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry reiterated that Syria has never and will not pose a threat to any party in the region, state news agency SANA reported.

"We believe that there are many parties who may be trying to disrupt regional stability to achieve their own interests," the Syrian authorities continued.

The Israeli military previously said two projectiles passed from Syria to Israel and fell in an open area.

Some Arab and Palestinian media have spread claims of responsibility from a less known group called "Brigade Martir Muhammad Deif," apparently referring to the Hamas military leader who was killed in the Israeli attack in 2024.

Syrian state media previously reported on Israeli attacks in southern Daraa province, an attack later said by the Syrian foreign ministry resulted in "significant human and material losses."

Locals said Israeli mortars attacked the Wadi Yarmouk area, west of the Daraa province, near the border with Israel's occupied Golan Heights.

Syria and Israel recently engaged in direct talks to ease tensions, a significant development in relations between countries that have been on opposing sides for decades in conflict in the Middle East.
