Chairman of the Purbalingga Regency DPRD Bambang Irawan stated that he was ready to take legal action related to reports from a number of online media stating that he was involved in a case of alleged drug abuse.
Bambang admitted that he was surprised when he read the news linking himself as a drug user or customer, including abusing the APBD to buy drugs.
"Regarding the beginning of this case, I don't know exactly. Moreover, it is said that using the APBD to buy drugs is a big mistake, it doesn't make sense, and I strongly object to such news," he said during a press conference in Purbalingga, Central Java, Tuesday, June 3, which was confiscated by Antara.
In the regional budget management system, he said, the use of the APBD is very strict and it is impossible to misappropriate illegal matters as alleged in the news.
In addition to the procedure, it is clear, he continued, in the use of the APBD there are also accountability letters and rules, so they cannot be arbitrary.
Bambang also felt strange when there were parties who mentioned his initials in the alleged drug abuse case because he had been in the world of politics for a long time, so he knew sensitive things like that.
"What evidence do they have? It's too premature to convey," he said accompanied by his legal adviser, Djoko Susanto.
In this regard, he admitted that he had undergone an independent urine test at the Jakarta Drug Addiction Hospital (RSKO) and the Yogyakarta Rapih Panti Hospital to dismiss accusations of being drug users.
According to him, the results of urine tests at the two hospitals stated that they were negative or free from drug abuse.
"This is a form of my responsibility, and I am ready if summoned as a witness or questioned by law enforcement officials. I will comply with the applicable legal process," he said.
Bambang's legal adviser, Djoko Susanto, admitted that he would immediately take legal steps on reports and accusations that were considered defamatory to his client.
"Our country is a state of law. Therefore, we will take two main steps, first, clarifying the truth of the news, second, reporting parties who have disseminated false information and cannot be accounted for," he said.

According to him, the case is a form of character assassination that attacks the dignity and honor of his client, both as a person, head of family, and a public official.
Therefore, he said, those who accuse their clients must be able to prove these allegations.
"We will take legal action without compromise. This is not only a matter of personal good name, but also about the image of the institution," he said.
His party as Bambang's legal adviser has prepared evidence documents, including urine and medical test results, and will hand them over to law enforcement officials if requested in the clarification process.
On a separate occasion, the Head of the Purbalingga Resort Police, Adjunct Senior Commissioner of Police Achmad Akbar, was not pleased to provide an official statement regarding the case.
"It's still being investigated," said the Police Chief.
