Nabire Prison Prisoners Escape, 3 Officers Injured Attacked With Machetes

JAKARTA - A number of inmates escaped from the Class IIB Nabire Prison, Central Papua, this morning. Three officers were injured as a result of the incident.

It is known, in a series of escape actions, one inmate attacked officers using a sharp machete.

"3 officers are being treated at the hospital," said Head of the Sub-Directorate of Correctional Cooperation at the Directorate General of Social Affairs, Rika Aprianti, in a statement, Monday, June 2.

Based on the video circulating, the prisoners' escape took place at around 11.00 WIT. However, the series of events or chronology related to the action is not yet known.

Rika only conveyed that the situation at the Nabire Class IIB Prison was conducive. The head of the prison is also said to have coordinated with the police.

"Currently, the prison condition is conducive," he said.

Meanwhile, for the number of escaped prisoners, Rika has not yet conveyed it. However, his party will seek and arrest him.

"The residents of the prophet who fled are currently being searched by Nabire prison officers in collaboration with the police," said Rika.
