JAKARTA - Russian airstrikes killed five people outside the city of Zaporizhia, Ukraine. Meanwhile, a drone strike in the northeastern region of Sumy injured six people in the early hours of Monday, including two children.

Local official Ivan Fedorov said three women were killed in a series of Russian shooting incidents targeting the village of Ternuvate, east of Zaporizhia on the evening of Sunday, June 1. Shops and several houses were badly damaged.

It was also reported that a man was killed in a nearby district as a result of a Russian attack by a guided air bomb. Nine people were injured in Russian attacks and one private house was destroyed.

Two children were among those injured in a Russian drone strike in the Sumy region, said Sinehubov, governor of the region.

A 7-year-old boy is among the victims, Sinehubov said. Several buildings across the area were damaged.

The attack comes as Russia and Ukraine will meet for rounds of peaceful negotiations, trying to find ways to end Russia's war with a full-scale invasion of its smaller neighbor more than three years ago.
