JAKARTA - A potential meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart, Donald Trump, requires thorough arrangements, and there is no specific agreement on this, Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov told VGTRK reporter Pavel Zarubin.

"No, there is no special agreement yet in this matter. The idea is clearly being raised, but (meetings can occur) when there are some results that can be discussed at the presidential level. Such meetings will require thorough arrangements," he explained, quoted by TASS on June 2.

Furthermore, Ushakov described the phone calls made between the two leaders as an important development.

"Conversations via telephone are useful," he said.

Meanwhile, a four-eye meeting would be a "large-scale event that should produce serious results," Ushakov continued.

However, he declined to estimate exactly when Putin-Trump's meeting could take place.

"We could speculate (the summit) might be held, say, later this year, but, for sure, it's not a fact that it will happen."

Earlier, Russian President Yury Ushakov said Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump were both interested in meeting in the future, but wanted their talks to be productive.

President Putin and President Trump themselves praised each other for their second phone calls in mid-May.

Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said Moscow and Washington should work hard to prepare for a potential meeting of the two leaders, warning that the stakes are very high and any mistakes will be catastrophic.

"Until now, all we have is an understanding of the principles, what the president discussed. We have to prepare for this meeting well," he told TASS.

"There is no room for error or, moreover, for event failure. Preparation here is complicated, first of all that is a substance, then a place," added Deputy Foreign Minister Ryabkov.
