Trump Screening Foreign Students In The US, Minister Of Education And Technology Guarantees To Maintain Indonesian Student Rights

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) expressed its commitment to safeguarding the rights of Indonesian students abroad, including those in the United States (US).

This was revealed by the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Mendiktisaintek) Brian Yuliarto in responding to the latest policy direction of the US Government regarding the suspension of visa issuance for international students and stopping the entire student visa interview process at US Embassys around the world.

"We will communicate with leading international universities in various countries to explore the possibility of moving to other countries. Also coordinating with domestic universities for the same possibilities," said Minister of Education and Technology Bririan Yuliarto as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, May 29.

The Minister of Education and Technology emphasized that the Indonesian government will play an active role and take strategic steps to ensure the continuation of the study of Indonesian students affected by this policy.

"We also urge students who are already in the US not to leave the US so that there are no obstacles when re-entered," he said.

Currently, the Ministry of Education and Technology will take several concrete and intensive steps, including monitoring and coordinating with stakeholders, including universities (international and domestic) and scholarship-giving institutions so that students can continue their studies.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Education and Technology will also collect student data, including selected majors, the level of education taken, as well as the status and progress of the visa management.

The Ministry of Education and Technology also continues to make maximum efforts so that the right to education of Indonesian students remains guaranteed in the midst of the ongoing dynamics of international policies.
