JAKARTA - The United Arab Emirates (UAE) summoned Israel's ambassador to the country to deliver its criticism of provocative actions by Israeli extremists during the flag parade (Flag March) in Jerusalem earlier this week.
The March flag in Jerusalem marking the seizure of the eastern region of the city by Israel in the 1967 war turned into chaos as far-right Israeli Jews confronted and attacked Palestinians, fellow Israelis, and journalists, witnesses said.
The annual flag parade was attended by tens of thousands of people, who shouted, danced and waved Israeli flags after far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir visited the Al-Aqsa mosque complex, Israel-Palestinian hotspot.
Reported by Reuters on Wednesday, May 28, the WAM news agency said the UAE condemns the sad and offensive violations of Palestinians that occurred in the courtyard of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Gulf state urged the Israeli government to take full responsibility, condemning this hostile act, holding perpetrators accountable without exception to ministers and officials.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
