The Bandung City Police (Polrestabes) arrested a man with the initials AS who recorded student activities on the SMAN 12 Bandung toilet, using a hidden camera.
Bandung Police Chief Kombes Budi Sartono said previously the victims reported the incident to the police on May 22, 2025. The police then followed up on the report.
"We have secured one of the students at SMA Bandung, on behalf of the US, namely the person concerned received a report from the Kiaracondong Police on May 22. That there were reports that what was done was in 2024, on December 3", Budi said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, May 27.
Police have examined seven victims at SMAN 12 and named AS as suspects in the incident.
The perpetrator's actions were allegedly carried out for personal consumption, and there was no evidence that the recording had been distributed to the public.
"For the time being, it is suspected that there is a sexual disorder from the person concerned, to be stored alone and also to be seen for himself," he said.
The investigators then conducted an in-depth investigation and examined a number of witnesses. The suspect is suspected of having installed CCTV cameras in the school bathroom.
"The alleged criminal act of sexual violence was carried out using CCTV or a recording device in the school bathroom. So the person concerned put the recording device in the bathroom," he said.
Kombes Budi explained that the perpetrator was also suspected of committing a similar act committed at a villa in Lembang area, West Bandung Regency.
