The North Sumatra Regional Police (Polda) confiscated 1.8 tons or 1,850 liters of subsidized fuel oil (BBM) of the type of pertalite and diesel from the results of prosecution in Pancur Batu District, Deli Serdang Regency.

"Other confiscated evidence is one unit of pickupck up used for the transportation of illegal fuel, as well as a number of vehicle documents," said Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the North Sumatra Police Kombes Rudi Rifani in Medan, Monday, May 26, as reported by ANTARA.

Rudi said the confiscation of the evidence came from the prosecution carried out by personnel by arresting a man with the initials AM (46), while transporting pertalite using a pickup truck up in Pancur Batu District, Deli Serdang.

From the arrest, 10 jerry cans of evidence were obtained containing 350 pertalite on Wednesday (21/5). Then the personnel examined the perpetrator.

From the results of the examination of AM, the officers then moved quickly to arrest a man with the initials HSG in the same area. The evidence found 39 jerry cans containing pertalite and four jerry cans containing diesel, all of which were allegedly obtained from local premium agents and diesel oil (APMS).

"The total evidence that we have secured from the two perpetrators reached 1,850 liters," said Rudi.

According to him, the actions of the two perpetrators were clearly against the law because they did not have a commercial and transportation permit, and abused the distribution of subsidized fuel that should have been intended for the poor.

The two perpetrators were charged with Article 55 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 22 of 2001 concerning Oil and Gas, which has been amended through Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 6 of 2023 concerning Job Creation, with a maximum penalty of six years in prison and a fine of up to IDR 60 billion.

"The two perpetrators have now been detained at the North Sumatra Regional Police Dittahti RTP to undergo further legal proceedings," he said.
