Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Palembang Polrestabes AKBP Andrie Setiawan said the case began when the victim DR (44), became acquainted with the perpetrator with the initials DF (20) through a dating application.

The DF perpetrator asked the victim to lend money and asked him to meet in the boarding room in the Ario Kemuning area, Palembang, on May 4, 2025, at around 21.39 WIB.

When meeting, the victim was asked to take off his clothes under the pretext of guaranteeing the money borrowed. However, at that time two other perpetrators WA (29) and AR (20) DF colleagues entered the room, threatening the victim with sharp weapons, strangling him, and hitting the victim in the face.
