This Man Was Trapped Through A Dating Application, Accompanied By Young Women And Then Extorted Tens Of Millions

PALEMBANG - Polrestabes Palembang, South Sumatra (Sumsel), arrested three perpetrators who extorted through a dating application.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Palembang Polrestabes AKBP Andrie Setiawan said the case began when the victim DR (44), became acquainted with the perpetrator with the initials DF (20) through a dating application.

The DF perpetrator asked the victim to lend money and asked him to meet in the boarding room in the Ario Kemuning area, Palembang, on May 4, 2025, at around 21.39 WIB.

When meeting, the victim was asked to take off his clothes under the pretext of guaranteeing the money borrowed. However, at that time two other perpetrators WA (29) and AR (20) DF colleagues entered the room, threatening the victim with sharp weapons, strangling him, and hitting the victim in the face.

One of the perpetrators also accused the victim of immoral acts with a minor.

In this situation, the victim was forced to transfer Rp30 million to DF's account.

The perpetrator also confiscated IDR 2.5 million in cash and the victim's cellphone.

Not accepting this incident, the victim reported the incident to the Palembang Police.

After receiving the report, the Palembang Polrestabes conducted an investigation and the three perpetrators were arrested at their respective residences without a fight on May 7, 2025.

"The three of them, we secured together a number of evidences, including Rp4 million in cash, five cell phones from various brands, and one sharp weapon used to threaten the victim," he explained.

For their actions, the three perpetrators were charged with Article 368 of the Criminal Code concerning extortion, with a maximum penalty of 9 years in prison.
