The Presence Of Investigator Rossa Purbo Accompanying Saeful Bahri Is Called The KPK, Not An Intervention: No Need To Worry!

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirmed that it had no intention of intervening in the trial of PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto who was charged with obstructing investigations and interim replacement bribes (PAW).

This was conveyed by KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo in response to accusations by PDIP politician Guntur Romli after Rossa Purbo escorted Saeful Bahri who was presented as a witness at the Corruption Court on Thursday, May 22. He said that no violations had been committed by investigators so that the Hasto camp did not need to worry.

"We convey that the presence of investigators at the trial is to assist the prosecutor to present witnesses and that is in accordance with standard operating procedures in the investigation process at the KPK," Budi told reporters quoted on Friday, May 23.

"And of course we don't need to worry about the allegations of intervention," he continued.

Moreover, Budi said Rossa's presence could be witnessed by all parties. There is no room for intervention and of course every witness who provides information at the trial is protected or given the right to be free to convey information and of course every statement is also under oath," he explained.

Instead of being busy throwing accusations at the KPK, continued Budi, all parties were asked to focus on proving in court.

"We also invite the public to jointly participate in this trial, we monitor it as a form of transparency and community involvement in the legal approach process in Indonesia," he said.

As previously reported, Rossa Purbo Bekti as a KPK investigator was seen at the Jakarta Corruption Court. He accompanied Saeful Bahri who was a witness in the trial of the obstruction case for the investigation and bribery of PAW, a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives with the defendant PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto.

Meanwhile, Saeful Bahri is a key witness in the series of alleged bribery cases, acting as an intermediary. He distributed money from Harun Masiku to Wahyu Setiawan, who at that time served as Commissioner of the Indonesian General Elections Commission (KPU).

This incident was then responded to by PDIP politician Guntur Romli who was worried that there would be an attempt to intimidate him. He considered that there was an attempt to intimidate the witnesses present.

"We would like to convey our concerns over the intimidation and pressure on witnesses who are not from KPK investigators and investigators who we are worried about experiencing intimidation, threats," said Guntur Romli when met at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Thursday, May 22.

"Because I myself saw earlier, witness Saeful Bahri was escorted by KPK investigator Rossa to the front of the courtroom," he continued.

Guntur then questioned the urgency of investigators 'down' directly to escort witnesses presented by the Public Prosecutor (JPU). Moreover, Rossa is the Head of the Task Force (Kasatgas) of investigators in the Harun Masiku case.

"How come the witnesses who should have been presented by the public prosecutor were escorted by the investigator directly, by the Kasatgas directly, namely Rossa. I saw for myself, he took Saeful Bahri to the front of the courtroom," said Guntur.
