The Female Driver Who Was Shot By Officers Tried To 'through' The CIA Headquarters

JAKARTA - Security officers shot a woman driving towards the CIA headquarters gate near Washington, DC, United States on Thursday. The woman ignored orders to stop.

Citing a source who spoke on condition of anonymity, Reuters reported a public record check showing the woman had a history of drunk driving.

A CIA spokesman said previously security staff were "person-to-person" outside the main gate and later arrested suspects.

The spokesman declined to say whether the suspect was shot.

Sources familiar with the matter also did not say whether the woman was shot, but was in stable condition after the incident that occurred at around 4 a.m. Thursday, May 22 local time.

The vehicle did not have time to enter the CIA complex, and no security officers were injured, the source said.

NBC News previously reported the suspect being shot, citing a person familiar with the matter.

The CIA closed the main gate at the deadlock complex and directed employees to look for alternative routes.

The shooting incident came after two Israeli Embassy staff were killed by an armed man in downtown Washington on Wednesday night. There is no immediate indication of the incident being interrelated.
